next topic

Hi all,

I'm posting on behalf of Mark who still needs to be added to 14 nights and I've been informed that it's his suggestion next. So this is what Marks suggestion is:

JUNGLE!

I believe Mark wishes you to incorporate the topic anyway you see fit!

Cheers,

Alex.

Halloween

Been told it's my turn, so here's an easy one for you: Halloween.
Hands down the best holiday in terms of cool imagery you can associate with it, so I'm sure everyone will be able to come up with something great.

CBeebies Eat Babies Brains

When I saw Pauls revised theme I was thinking WTF! but this was fun. I had a more colourful version but it wouldn't do not to turn it brown and over do the bloom.

Beauty and the Beast

Better late than never, although I couldn't be arsed to finish it properly :(
You get the idea, at least.

Post Apocoliptic Cbeebies

I woke up thinking of another this morning, what with all this anti hero style treatment of super hero's being very in right now the only characters left unscathed by this trendy self effacing negativity are the creatures roaming around on the CBeebies channel, and they are just about the wierdest, most haunting individuals on TV. Take one and depict it as it would appear in the "real" world as the new fashion would have us believe, a post apocoliptic anti hero, something Johnny Depp would play in an overstylised indie flick. I want flaws, violence and self mutilation.

Wideload Wonder Woman - Catch-up II

Finally got around to a Super hero piece. When I was looking up her costume to finish the drawing I discovered a whole blog devoted to fat wonder woman. I have an idea for Robin too maybe I'll find time to do that tomorrow.

Cheating to catch up

The top picture is old but fits the bill so I'm cheating and posting that. I was trying to make something of the sketch below but it just isn't working out. It was supposed to be a female take on the book 'The Picture of Dorian Gray'.

Perhaps we should start a fresh. Perhaps Paul you should start the ball rolling again? I'll terrorize the CA lot. Hopefully we can get a bit more motivated. It was so much fun when we started.

The Thing

Sorry its late, been wrestling with a drawing of the laziest idea in super hero history, Thor, but he turned out just too naff, so I did the Thing instead.

Beauty and the Beast

Bunch of slackers!
If Super Heroes 'aint your thing, then let's try something a bit more open-ended.

The new brief is simply: Beauty and the Beast.

Interpret it however you like - doesn't necessarily have to include gorgeous women and/or grotesque monsters at all. Now get going!

Super Heroes/Villains

Sorry for slacking on this one guys.

I've never really been into super-heroes but with an excess of Summer Supers upon us. Lets endulge in a bit of fan art.

nb: Its a bit lame and I know it.

Zombie Holiday

I'd probably take it to the Zoo. We could feed on the animals and stuff.

Flying Machine

seems like it's my turn to propose something. let's do a bit of mechanical stuff, try to imagine any kind of machine that can fly. a goblin zeppelin, a huge scifi spaceship... as long as it looks constructed. it can be operated by any kind of creature as well.

I've been a bit sloppy lately so I'll try to catch up the last subjects...

mmm brains

Fun Fair

I'm trying to work up a colour version of this but I'm not happy with it so this will have to do for now.

A Zombie Holiday

I have been politely informed that I am to choose the next topic for scribbling fun, so there it is:

If you had a zombie where would you take it on holiday or even a day trip?

Rocket!

Does this make any sense? Probably not.
Story of my life...

Friday, June 27, 2008

will it NEVER END!

Trundling ever onward, barely functional, unpleasant and dirty but inexorable, inevitable and incontrovertible in pursuing its target... yeah thats me!

Crashed escape pod

I should mention at this point that this is a good thing, before my spaceship was like Waller's, a lumbering, relentless, empty monolith, and I still like those kind of space cruisers, but my escape pod jettisoned accidentally and crashed with no means of escape on this weird planet of tiny puckish imps.

Spaceship

If you had a spaceship that reflected your personality/journey through life what would it look like? For an example: when posed this question the late great Johnny Carline said his would be a large ball hurtling through space with no controls and with himself stuck to the front of it screaming his head off.

HomoCacti

...Didn't last long on account of it being way too painful to reproduce. Sorry its late

Genetics Gone Wrong

Since Andy took the 'gross' approach and totally nailed it, I thought I'd try a slightly more surreal take on the theme. Did it work?

'Genetics Gone Wrong' challenge - Asylum

A genetically experimental 'creature' lost and forgotten in a padded cell deep in an underground government-run asylum.

Update: This is the final colour version. That's all the challenge boxes ticked for me now. hurrah! :D

The Worst Super Power - Ultra Weed

Ultra Weed has the feeble strength of a thousand wimps but that's not going to stop him donning a customised suit and taking on the Mighty Crunch - luckily he finds it all a bit funny as does his victims.

'David and Goliath - The True Story' - WIP

How the mighty fall.
Poor old A-list celebrity Goliath has been snapped wearing ladies' underwear and David is now threatening to sell the pictures to the national press.

I've marked it a work in progress as I want to colour it at some point.

Genetics Gone Wrong

The result of a genetic experiment, on a human, going badly wrong.
I added the teddy bear in to make the 'monster' feel child-like and vulnerable.
Something about doing this just made the picture feel darker.

Genetics Gone Wrong

Well, what a productive few weeks I`ve had....
Anyway, I`m going to attempt to try and catch up by posting two pictures. One for this challenge and one for the last challenge.

Anyway, the new challenge has the potential to get our creative juices flowing.
Simply entitled 'Genetics Gone Wrong'.

Enjoy.

The most rubbish superpower ever

Okay, so barring a super-late entry from Roland maybe, it looks like we're done for this round. If you're still working on David and Goliath, we'd still like to see em! So post em up! :)
Anyway, next is my turn to come up with a brief:
I've been watching a lot of Heroes on TV, which features people who can fly, heal their wounds, stop time, walk through walls and hear other's thoughts. But then there's this guy whose 'superpower' is to generate radioactive nuclear explosions from his body that he can't even seem to control. His power is basically to blow himself up. :/

So it got me thinking, what would be....
The most rubbish superpower ever?

You've got fourteen nights to let us all know. GO GO GO!

David and Goliath

Well the first 'fourteen nights' have passed already. Minds and digits are warmed up and a new challenge awaits. David and Goliath. The classic tale of heroic triumph against enormous odds. Mini heroes and mighty villains. Boy versus giant. One man against the State, Tom and Jerry, Skarin and Drakan ;) . . . . . .

4 Knights and a Jet Pack Brontosaurus

Didn't really finish anything but had lots of fun working on the stuff I started. Definitely got me scribbling.

p.s. I'll post up a new topic later this evening.

Fourteen Nights of Fourteen Frights

Thought I go with a Tim Burton-esque children's book illustration.
Story, in short, revolves around a boy who is visited by the Shadow Monster for fourteen nights.
Over this period the boy is set 14 riddles. If he gets any of them right he'll dream sweet dreams. Getting any of them wrong, on the other hand, and he'll fall into the darkest of nightmares.

A Jet Pack Brontosaurus by Paul

Fourteen Nights

Now I really wanted this to be jetpack brontosaurus, based on this new freeware game Michal the madman is playing, but seen as this is the first brief it should be more releventso....What is fourteen nights? what dost it mean to ye? Random and abstract I know but youve got 2 weeks, a fortnight, yeah see what I did there, to submit your posts, get doodling! Oh and if you wanted to do a jetpack brontosaurus aswell dont let me stop you!

I thought we would take it in turns to set the brief, I suppose alphabetical order is better than nothing, also that means I'm the first! Then it'll be Roland, Andy, Ray and finally Nic
